These traditional German cookies are typically made with lard,
but actually, my grandma always used coconut fat.
Substituting the butter with margarine gives a vegan version.
Ingredients
250 g Biskin (coconut fat)
125 g butter
625 g flour
300 g sugar
2 packets vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
15 g ammonium carbonate (Hirschhornsalz)
cocoa for a chocolatey version (optional, or half with cocoa, half without)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C. Line two baking trays with parchment paper.
Mix everything to a dough. If you want a chocolatey version, add cocoa to half of the dough.
Form small balls (about 2 cm diameter), slightly flatten and place on the baking trays.
